Norfolk Strong Workshop
Making Sense of Migration in MA
Nov. 23, 3-5pm - Norfolk Public Library
About Norfolk Strong
Norfolk Strong was started in 2024 by a group of Norfolk neighbors who wanted to organize their voices, their skills, and their generosity to support the folks and families who will be staying at the Bay State Overflow Facility.
Since then, Norfolk Strong has come to realize that we are a group of “gap fillers.” Folks reach out when there is a need anywhere in the community and we try our best to meet it.
We support our whole community - new, old, and guest.
When there’s a need, we meet it. That’s what Norfolk does.
Current Community Actions - Welcome Wagon
Baystate Winter Gear Drive
The cold weather is here and the families of the Baystate Shelter need boots, coats, hats, scarves, gloves for all ages and snowpants for the kids.
E-mail us for the drop off locations! All sizes are needed!
Workshop: Making Sense of Migration
Join us Sat. Nov. 23, 3-5PM at Norfolk Public Library for a workshop with the leading Human Rights organization in Central America - Cristosal.
Together we’ll deepen our understanding of the root causes of migration from Central America to Massachusetts.
Local Family - Displaced by Fire
A local family with several children has moved to Norfolk after losing their home in a fire.
They are in immediate need of a sofa, living room chairs, and a kitchen table set. Please e-mail us if you have any of these to donate!
There was a need. We met it. That’s what Norfolk does.
Past Community Actions - Welcome Wagon
Schools on Wheels Back Pack Drive
We directed hundreds of dollars in donations to Schools on Wheels who organizes amazing back pack drives all over the state for kids in need. All Norfolk kids in need will be benefiting from Schools on Wheels later this year. This action is now closed.
Community Kid Care Bags
In appreciation for the Norfolk police and fire departments, the Norfolk Strong Welcome Wagon provided small bags of goodies for the department members to carry with them to give to any child they encounter in our community. This action is now closed.
Hygiene Kits: Baystate Guests
Heading Home, the service provider for the Baystate Shelter, had asked for kits that include shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, combs, toothbrushes and other essential items for self-care. We’ve collected 200+ bags! This action is now closed.
Welcome Home Kits: Baystate Guests
Heading Home, the service provider for the Baystate Shelter, had asked for home essentials for Baystate families - this included blankets, sheets, towels, a laundry bag, and hangers. We collected over 60 kits. This action is now closed, but other community groups are still collecting!
We are always looking for our next activity to strengthen community ties.
Future Community Actions - Coming Soon!
Community Closet
Norfolk Strong understands that there should and must be a free community closet with clothes and other essential items for residents who are our most vulnerable and experiencing tough times.
